Federal Council appoints Rosmarie Schlup and Sébastien Kraenzlin as Alternate Members of SNB Governing Board

Bern, 22.12.2023 - During its meeting on 22 December 2023, the Federal Council appointed Rosmarie Schlup and Sébastien Kraenzlin as Alternate Members of the Swiss National Bank (SNB) Governing Board upon the recommendation of the Bank Council.

Due to the fact that Dewet Moser is standing down with effect from 31 March 2024 on age grounds, it became necessary to appoint a new Alternate Member of the Swiss National Bank (SNB) Governing Board. The SNB Bank Council decided to use this opportunity to expand capacity within the SNB management, in accordance with the May 2022 revision of the Organisation Regulations. It therefore proposed that the Federal Council appoint two Alternate Members of the Governing Board.

During its meeting on 22 December, in line with the Bank Council's proposal, the Federal Council appointed the following two people for the remainder of the 2021-2027 term of office:

  • Rosmarie Schlup, born in 1977, from Lengnau (Bern), currently ambassador and Executive Director at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) in London

    and

  • Prof. Sébastien Kraenzlin, born in 1979, from Winterthur, currently Head of the Banking Operations division at the SNB.

Sébastien Kraenzlin will take up the new post on 1 April 2024, and Rosmarie Schlup on 1 September 2024. The term of office for Alternate Members of the SNB Governing Board is six years. Re-election is possible.
