Federal Council elects Philippe Egger as Vice-Chair of FINMA's Board of Directors

Bern, 11.11.2015 - At its meeting today, the Federal Council elected Philippe Egger as the Vice-Chair of the Board of Directors of the Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority FINMA for the 2016-2019 term of office. Philippe Egger will succeed Paul Müller, who will step down at the end of December 2015.

Philippe Egger is an insurance specialist with a federal diploma and has been a member of FINMA's Board of Directors since May 2014. After completing his education, he worked as the head of marketing at Freiburger Versicherung and then moved to Basler Versicherungen, where he was a member of the Executive Board. In 2003, he joined the former Winterthur Group, which was taken over in 2006 by the French company AXA. From 2007 up to the time of his retirement at the end of 2013, he was CEO of AXA Winterthur and was also a member of the Executive Committee of AXA Group.

Philippe Egger has been elected as Vice-Chair of FINMA's Board of Directors because of his proven expertise, which he has already put to use on FINMA's Board of Directors.
