Convictions: Minors and adults 2014 – Decline in juvenile convictions, no change in the number of adult convictions

Neuchâtel, 09.06.2015 - (FSO) - In 2014, the downward trend for juvenile convictions continued (over 12,800 juvenile convictions; -4% compared with the previous year). Whereas youth convictions for offences against criminal law fell by 6% and those for consumption of narcotic substances fell by 1%, trafficking in narcotic substances increased by 21%. For adult convictions, conviction numbers stagnated with a maximum value of just over 110,100 according to the latest findings from the Federal Statistical Office (FSO). The drop in adult convictions under the Swiss Criminal Code (-7%) was compensated for by an increase in road traffic offences (+6%) and narcotic substance trafficking (+2%).
