Federal Councillor Doris Leuthard to pay a working visit to Vietnam and Thailand
Bern, 27.03.2018 - On 2 April 2018, Federal Councillor Doris Leuthard will depart for a working visit to Vietnam and Thailand. In Hanoi, the head of the Federal Department of the Environment, Transport, Energy and Communications (DETEC) will sign a civil aviation agreement between Switzerland and Vietnam. She will also be meeting with representatives of the Vietnamese and Thai governments and attending several events focusing on topics relating to the environment, transport and infrastructure.
During her four-day visit, Federal Councillor Leuthard will meet Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and other Vietnamese government ministers on Tuesday 3 April in Hanoi.
On Wednesday 4 April she will sign a civil aviation agreement with the Vietnamese Minister of Transport. This agreement will secure better framework conditions for airlines wishing to offer services between the two countries. Federal Councillor Leuthard will also be meeting the ministers responsible for the environment, infrastructure and energy, and together with representatives of the administration and the private sector she will also attend a business forum on sustainable growth.
On Thursday 5 April, Federal Councillor Leuthard will meet with the Deputy Prime Minister of Thailand, Somkid Jatusripitak, and several other Thai government ministers in Bangkok. She will also attend a public event organised by the Swiss-Thai Chamber of Commerce, which is celebrating its twentieth anniversary this year. Here she will deliver a speech to an audience of local and Swiss business representatives on the development of infrastructure in Southeast Asia.
On Friday 6 April the head of DETEC will meet with representatives of the municipal authorities of Ho Chi Minh City and Swiss businesses, and attend an event focusing on “Smart Cities”.
During her visit, Federal Councillor Leuthard will be accompanied by representatives of companies in the infrastructure, energy and transport sectors.
