Swiss Consumer Price Index in January 2016 – Consumer prices fall by 0.4%

Neuchâtel, 11.02.2016 - (FSO) - The Swiss Consumer Price Index (CPI) fell by 0.4% in January 2016 compared with the previous month. The decline is due largely to the sales in the clothing sector as well as to falling prices for petroleum products. Air transport and private insurances also became cheaper. In contrast, prices rose for overnight stays in hotels. Inflation was -1.3% in comparison with the same month in the previous year. These are the findings of the Federal Statistical Office (FSO).
