Swiss Earnings Structure Survey 2012 – Gender pay gap: marked differences between economic branches

Neuchâtel, 21.08.2015 - (FSO) - In 2012, almost 2 out of 3 jobs with a gross wage of less than CHF 4000 per month for full-time employment were held by women. According to the Federal Statistical Office (FSO), in the private sector, the pay gap between the sexes continued to fall gradually, decreasing from 25.0% in 2008 to 21.3% in 2012. 40.9% of the pay gap between men and women in the private sector remains unexplained compared with 38.8% for the public sector.
