Tourism accommodation statistics during the touristic winter season 2014/2015 and April 2015 – Overnight stays for winter tourist season stable, April 2015 in decline

Neuchâtel, 08.06.2015 - (FSO) - The Swiss hotel industry registered 15.7 million overnight stays during the winter tourist season (November 2014 - April 2015). This represents a very slight rise of 0.1% (+12,000 overnight stays) compared with the same period a year earlier. With a total of 7.4 million overnight stays, domestic demand showed an increase of 1.9% (+134,000 units). Foreign visitors for their part registered 8.3 million overnight stays, i.e. a decline of 1.4% (-122,000 overnight stays). During the month of April 2015, 2.3 million overnight stays were generated, corresponding to a fall of 0.6% (-13,000 overnight stays) compared with April 2014. These are the provisional results from the Federal Statistical Office (FSO).
