Road motor vehicles 2014 – Increase in road motor vehicle stock despite fall in registrations

Neuchâtel, 05.02.2015 - (FSO) - 396,588 road motor vehicles were newly registered in 2014, i.e. 1.4% less than in 2013. The total stock of road motor vehicles further increased, however, and reached a total of almost 5.8 million vehicles. The attraction of the diesel engine for passenger cars continued as did that of electric and hybrid engines although the proportion of the two latter types remains very low. As far as the colour of cars is concerned, white has shown growing popularity since 2007. These are some of the results from the road vehicle statistics published by the Federal Statistical Office (FSO).
