René Dönni Kuoni named as new OFCOM deputy director

Bern, 10.04.2024 - René Dönni Kuoni has been appointed deputy director of the Federal Office of Communications OFCOM. The Federal Council acknowledged the appointment at its meeting on 10 April. From 1 November, René Dönni Kuoni will also take over as head of the Licences and Frequency Management Division, succeeding Philippe Horisberger, who is retiring, in both roles.

Federal Councillor Albert Rösti has appointed René Dönni Kuoni to serve as deputy to OFCOM director Bernard Maissen. René Dönni Kuoni joined OFCOM in 1995. The 60-year-old economist was made vice director and head of the Telecom and Postal Services Division in 2013After obtaining a degree in electrical engineering, he worked as a test engineer for the Alcatel telecommunications group before continuing his studies in business economics at the University of Bern. The appointment of René Dönni Kuoni as Philippe Horisberger's successor from 1 November ensures continuity at OFCOM.

Philippe Horisberger has worked for OFCOM since 1993, and has been head of the Frequency Management Division since 2012. He was appointed deputy director at the end of 2014. Since 2000, he has led the Swiss delegation to the World Radiocommunication Conferences of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) on several occasions. He will retire at the end of November.
