Further rise in property offences in 2023

Neuchâtel, 25.03.2024 - In 2023, the number of offences recorded by the police was 14.0% higher than in the previous year, with a total of 522 558 offences under the Swiss Criminal Code (SCC). This increase was mainly due to property offences (+17.6%), which rose for the second year in a row. There was also an increase in digital crime (+31.5%). As in 2022, the number of recorded serious violent offences (+5.9%) grew in 2023. The number of persons accused rose by 4.3%. These are some of the findings of the police crime statistics of the Federal Statistical Office (FSO).
