Enterprise birth statistics 2008 – 2008: Falling number of newly born enterprises

Neuchâtel, 30.07.2010 - (FSO) - In 2008, some 11,600 new enterprises were created in Switzerland, 3.2% less than in the previous year. The number of jobs created also declined from 23,100 to 21,800. A newly born enterprise generates an average of 1.9 jobs and is generally active in the services sector. This is one of the findings of the 2008 Newly Born Enterprise Statistics produced by the Federal Statistical Office (FSO).
