Swiss Health Survey 2022: standard tables - Continuous increase in consumption of medication for 30 years

Neuchâtel, 29.01.2024 - In 2022, more than half the population (55%) took a medication over a seven-day period. Consumption has been rising continuously for 30 years. In particular, the use of pain killers rose from 12% in 1992 to 26% in 2022. A quarter of the population had suffered from severe physical ailments in the four weeks prior to the survey, and a third from sleep disorders. These are some of the findings from the newly published standard tables for the "Swiss Health Survey" from the Federal Statistical Office (FSO).
