Record number of overnight stays in the hotel sector for the 2023 summer season
Neuchâtel, 05.12.2023 - The Swiss hotel sector recorded 23.9 million overnight stays during the summer tourist season (from May to October 2023), the highest level ever observed. Compared with the same period last year, overnight stays increased by 6.3% (+1.4 million overnight stays). With a total of 12.4 million overnight stays, foreign demand rose by 17.2% (+1.8 million). Domestic visitors registered a decrease of 3.4% (−402 000) with 11.5 million units. These are the provisional results from the Federal Statistical Office (FSO).
