Euclid to study the evolution of the universe over the last ten billion years: ESA online media invitation, June 23rd 2023

Bern, 21.06.2023 - The Euclid space telescope, part of the European Space Agency's mission of the same name, will be launched in early July 2023 from Cape Canaveral in Florida on a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket. The mission is dedicated to cosmology: the study of the origin, nature, structure and evolution of the Universe, and will attempt to increase our knowledge of two still mysterious components, dark energy and dark matter.

Switzerland's participation in ESA enables Swiss scientists and companies to be part of the mission: four Swiss academic institutions - including the University of Geneva, which plays a major role - are contributing. Swiss industrial players are also contributing their expertise to the instruments.

ESA online media invitation:

  • Friday, June 23rd, 2023, at 14:00 (English) and 15:00 (German).
  • Please register by June 22nd 2023.
