Decrease in convictions of minors in 2022

Neuchâtel, 20.06.2023 - A total of 20 797 convictions of minors were passed in 2022, representing a decrease of 2.3% compared with 2021. Convictions for offences under the Criminal Code fell by 7%. For drug trafficking and drug use, the decreases were 24.2% and 20.6% respectively. In contrast, the number of convictions involving a breach of the Road Traffic Act rose by 7.9%. In order, the most frequent sanctions were cautions, personal work orders and fines. In 2022, 976 minors were externally placed outside their families, according to the Federal Statistical Office (FSO).
