DDoS attack on Federal Administration: various Federal Administration websites and applications unavailable

Bern, 12.06.2023 - Several Federal Administration websites are/were inaccessible on Monday 12 June 2023, due to a DDoS attack on its systems. The Federal Administration's specialists quickly noticed the attack and are taking measures to restore accessibility to the websites and applications as quickly as possible.

On Monday, 12 June 2023, various websites of the Federal Administration and enterprises affiliated with the Confederation were unavailable. The Swiss government's portal www.admin.ch remains accessible.

The NoName hacker group has claimed responsibility for the attack online. This group was also behind last week's attack on parlament.ch.

The NCSC is analysing the attack together with the administrative units concerned and defining appropriate measures.

In a DDoS attack, the aim is to overwhelm websites and applications with targeted requests so that they can no longer be accessed. No data is lost during a DDoS attack.

Information on further findings will be made available to the public in due course.
