Between 2012 and 2022, part-time employment grew three times more than full-time employment

Neuchâtel, 20.04.2023 - In Switzerland, 4.5 million people aged between 15 and 64 were in employment in 2022, 7.8% more than in 2012. More than a third of them worked part-time. Between 2012 and 2022, the increase in the number of employed people working part-time was more than three times greater than that of those working full-time (+14.7% compared with +4.4%). Although the majority of part-time workers are women, the share among men is growing fast. Furthermore, the proportion of people working part-time depends on many other factors such as education, age and family situation. These are some of the findings of the Swiss Labour Force Survey (SLFS) conducted by the Federal Statistical Office (FSO).
