Leisure still by far the most important mobility purpose in 2021

Neuchâtel, 06.04.2023 - In 2021, the Swiss resident population covered around 43% of distances travelled in Switzerland during their leisure time. This therefore remained by far the most important mobility purpose. In total, 30.0 km were travelled domestically per person per day. This is 6.8 km fewer than in the last survey in 2015, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. These are some of the findings of the "Mobility and Transport Microcensus", Switzerland’s most important nationwide survey on the population's mobility behaviour, carried out by the Federal Statistical Office (FSO) and the Federal Office for Spatial Development (ARE).
