Federal Council makes preliminary decisions to adjust budget

Bern, 25.01.2023 - The Confederation could face substantial deficits from 2024 onwards. During its meeting on 25 January 2023, the Federal Council made preliminary decisions to ensure a balanced budget in 2024. It adopted an adjustment concept in order to comply with the debt brake requirements. This focuses primarily on the expenditure side, but additional receipts are also anticipated. All areas will have to contribute. The Federal Council will decide on the details in February and March.
