The overall gender wage gap decreased in 2020

Neuchâtel, 22.11.2022 - In the economy as a whole, 60.1% of people receiving a gross monthly wage of less than CHF 4000 for a full-time job were women. Conversely, more men were found at the top of the pay pyramid, accounting for 78.5% of employees earning a gross monthly salary of more than CHF 16 000 (2018: 81.2%). The overall gender pay gap decreased by 1% from 19.0% in 2018 to 18.0% in 2020 (private and public sectors together). 47.8% of the pay gap remains unexplained, according to the Federal Statistical Office (FSO).
