In 2021, no increase in nursing home personnel for first time since 2006

Neuchâtel, 11.11.2022 - Nursing home personnel represented 100 361 full-time equivalent jobs in 2021, a decline of 0.2% compared with 2020. Between 2006 and 2020, employment in this sector saw continuous and steady average annual growth of 2.5%. In 2021, activity picked up with more new admissions than before 2020, a year marked by an exceptional number of deaths in nursing homes. At 89.6%, the occupancy rate is struggling to return to pre-pandemic values (2019): 94%), according to the Statistics on Nursing Homes and Home Care Services from the Federal Statistical Office (FSO).
