Ignazio Cassis in Paris for meeting with Emmanuel Macron on occasion of Paris Peace Forum
Bern, 08.11.2022 - President of the Swiss Confederation Ignazio Cassis will visit Paris on 11 and 12 November 2022. On this occasion, he will participate in the 5th edition of the Paris Peace Forum and will hold talks with the president of the French Republic Emmanuel Macron. Their discussions will focus on bilateral relations, the war in Ukraine and Swiss–EU relations.
During this official visit to Paris, Mr Cassis and Mr Macron will have the opportunity to go into greater depth on matters raised at the first meeting of the European Political Community on 6 October in Prague. The wealth and diversity of relations between Switzerland and France will be at the heart of their discussions. They will also discuss the war in Ukraine, the European Political Community, the UN Security Council, and the most recent developments in relations between Switzerland and the EU. The last official meeting between a Swiss president and their French counterpart took place in 2018.
At the invitation of Mr Macron, Mr Cassis will also attend a dinner organised at the Elysée Palace in honour of the heads of state and government participating in the 5th edition of the Paris Peace Forum.
Participation in the Paris Peace Forum
Under the theme 'Riding out the multicrisis', the 5th edition of the Paris Peace Forum will focus on current global issues and international cooperation. The fallout from the global crises, solutions for climate protection and the development of a more secure digital environment will be at the heart of the discussions. Mr Cassis will take part in the meeting together with heads of state and government, ministers and representatives of international organisations.
