Meeting of the research directors from the DACH countries

Bern, 05.10.2022 - On 5 and 6 October, a delegation of research directors from Germany, Austria and Switzerland (DACH countries) will meet in Thun. The focus will be on the mutual exchange of topics such as drone defence and energy. The meeting will be conducted by armasuisse Science and Technology.

Switzerland is the host country of this year’s meeting of research directors from the DACH countries (Germany, Austria, Switzerland). The delegation will exchange views on the topic “Research in the DACH countries” on 5 and 6 October 2022 in Thun at armasuisse Science and Technology.

This meeting will focus on the topics of drone defence, technological horizon scanning as well as the decarbonisation of the energy needs of armed forces. The objective of the meeting is to exchange information on the development of research activities in the various countries. Further aims are to identify joint interests in the area of research and to promote cooperation between experts from the DACH countries by launching working groups and projects.

The exchange will take place under the leadership of Thomas Rothacher, Head of Science and Technology (S+T) and Deputy National Armaments Director, as well as Hansruedi Bircher, Head of Research Management and Operations Research and Deputy Head of armasuisse S+T.
