The increase in costs cancels out the rise in agricultural production in 2022

Neuchâtel, 04.10.2022 - In 2022, Swiss agriculture is expected to generate gross value added of CHF 4.3 billion, an increase of 1.6% compared with the previous year. Better harvests and higher prices for many agricultural goods have offset price hikes for certain supplies such as fodder, energy and fertiliser. However, the sharp increase in construction and equipment prices is affecting depreciation, causing agricultural sector income to fall by 3.9%. These initial estimates for the current year are based on the economic accounts for agriculture compiled by the Federal Statistical Office (FSO).
