Supplementary accommodation grew by around 10% in 2021

Neuchâtel, 14.06.2022 - In 2021, 16.3 million overnight stays were recorded for supplementary accommodation, which corresponds to an increase of 10.4% compared with 2020. Compared with 2019, which was unaffected by the pandemic, the result shows a decline of 2.1%. Domestic demand rose by 12.3% to 13.3 million overnight stays. The number of overnight stays by foreign visitors was 3.0 million (+2.8% compared with 2020), well below the 5.2 million recorded in 2019. These are some of the latest findings from the Federal Statistical Office (FSO).
