Trust in AI
Bern, 16.05.2022 - Artificial intelligence (AI) is all around us and is rapidly transforming our livelihoods and the environment in fundamental ways. Building trust in AI has therefore become a key concern for policymakers, industry and science. The international conference AI with Trust will take place in Geneva on 16–17 May to explore the interplay between legislation, standardisation and conformity assessment.
The full potential of AI for society can only be realised if users trust AI applications. How can norms (legislation, standards, conformity) help to build trust in AI? The FDFA's Directorate of International Law and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) are jointly organising an international conference that will bring together leading experts to explore ways to harmonise different AI standards. A harmonised definition of standards will facilitate more efficient and appropriate regulation to prevent risks and promote innovation.
Broad experience and expertise
This multidisciplinary conference will bring together international experts from the fields of law, science, and industry. Improved understanding between the legal and technological communities is key to developing harmonised AI standards. The aim here is not to engage in abstract discussions of AI theories, but to focus on concrete examples of AI applications: in healthcare, as an enabling technology and in collaborative robotics.
International Geneva
The IEC is hosting the AI with Trust conference in partnership with two other Geneva-based standards bodies: the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the International Telecommunication Union (ITU). International standards organisations play a pivotal role in the international regulatory framework for AI. With this conference, Geneva is further strengthening its position as a centre of international dialogue and hub for digitalisation.
