Conviction statistics 2021: Downturn in speeding and drink driving continues

Neuchâtel, 16.05.2022 - With 97 386 entries in the criminal register in 2021, the number of convictions fell slightly compared with the previous year (-1%). The declining figures for offences under the Criminal Code (SCC) and the Narcotics Act (NarcA) contrast with an increase under the Foreign Nationals and Integration Act (FNIA). The total number of judgements under the Road Traffic Act (RTA) is stable compared with the previous year; however, the long-standing downward trend in speeding and driving while incapacitated continues. These are some of the findings of the adult conviction statistics produced by the Federal Statistical Office (FSO).

This press release and further information on the topic can be found on the FSO website (see link below).
