Federal Councillor Ueli Maurer visits Czech Minister of Finance, Zbyněk Stanjura

Bern, 03.05.2022 - On 3 May 2022, Federal Councillor Ueli Maurer will be in Prague for a working visit with his Czech counterpart, Zbyněk Stanjura. Current financial and tax issues will be discussed in view of the Czech Republic's upcoming EU presidency.

The visit is taking place in view of the Czech Republic's presidency of the Council of the European Union in the second half of 2022. Meetings of this nature take place regularly to discuss the priorities and positions of the presiding country. The meetings also provide an opportunity to deepen bilateral economic and financial relations.

In particular, Federal Councillor Ueli Maurer and Finance Minister Zbyněk Stanjura will discuss the war in Ukraine and the associated measures in Switzerland and the EU. The EU banking package, the future market access rules for third countries and the implementation of the OECD's planned minimum taxation rules for large internationally active companies will also be addressed.

The Czech Republic is one of Switzerland's most significant trading partners among the newer EU member states and is an important country for Swiss investors in Central Europe. The trade volume amounted to around CHF 4.7 billion in 2021.
