Marcel Widmer becomes Head of the Swiss Health Observatory (Obsan)

Neuchâtel, 05.04.2022 - Following a thourough selection process, Marcel Widmer has been appointed Head of the Swiss Health Observatory. He will take up his new position on 1 May 2022. Marcel Widmer is a long-time employee of Obsan, has been on the Executive Board since 2012 and has held the position of Co-Deputy Head of Obsan since 2017. He has thus already helped to shape the development of Obsan in the past and is well connected thanks to his numerous scientific publications and works. This election has therefore ensured that a recognised and competent leader was found for the continuity and further development of Obsan.

The Swiss Health Observatory (Obsan) is a common institution of the Confederation and the cantons. Obsan analyses the information available on health in Switzerland. It supports the federal government, cantons and other institutions involved in public health with their planning, decision making and implementation.
