LANTERN and SWICE awarded SWEET funding

Bern, 04.04.2022 - Following the second call for proposals for the SWEET (SWiss Energy research for the Energy Transition) funding programme on the topic Living & Working, the expert panel has selected the consortia LANTERN und SWICE as the recipients of funding. The host institutions of these research consortia are the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Western Switzerland (HES-SO/Valais) and the Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne (EPFL). Each of the consortia will receive funding of CHF 10 million for the next eight years.

The central theme of the second call for proposals in the SWEET funding programme was Living & Working (see press release of 6 April 2021). The call was held in a two-stage procedure (pre-proposal, full proposal). Two of the four consortia that were able to submit a full proposal have now been selected.

The maximum amount of funding available to each consortium is CHF 10 million. The research challenge (Towards sustainable and efficient ways of living and working whilst improving the quality of life) focuses on efficiency measures in everyday life, especially in the building and mobility sectors. Besides technical measures, socio-economic aspects such as behavioural changes, technology acceptance and adaptation, new business models, incentives and investment opportunities will also be considered.
