Bern, 07.12.2021 - The Bureau of Investigative Journalism and Bloomberg News raise serious allegations against an employee of the Zug-based company Mitto AG. FDPIC opens preliminary investigation.

In a report published on 6 December 2021, the Bureau of Investigative Journalism, a non-profit organization in London, and Bloomberg News raised serious allegations against an employee of the company Mitto AG, based in Zug. The company, which serves a global clientele, is said to provide text messaging services to various large companies. In doing so, the employee is alleged to have abused the access granted by the mobile operators to their networks in order to obtain information. According to the report, he allegedly used the Signalling System (SS7) access in particular to enable third parties to carry out unauthorized surveillance of individuals in return for payment.

The FDPIC opened a preliminary investigation into this matter on December 7, 2021. As a first step, it will ask Mitto AG to comment and will also contact the mobile network operators in Switzerland.
