Goods transport in Switzerland affected by the COVID-19 crisis to varying degrees
Neuchâtel, 22.11.2021 - In 2020, transport performance of goods transport fell by 0.9% for road transport and by 2.7% for rail transport. At the Port of Switzerland in Basel, 15.5% less cargo was handled. Air freight was affected far more significantly with a 41% decline in transport volumes. These are some of the findings of the goods transport statistics produced by the Federal Statistical Office (FSO).
