A third of the economically active population is aged 50 or older

Neuchâtel, 28.10.2021 - In Switzerland, 33.5% of the economically active population was 50 or over in 2020. The economic activity rate of people aged 50 to 64 was 81% and their unemployment rate based on ILO definition was 4.0%. One year before normal retirement age, the early retirement rate was 39.0% for men and 30.4% for women. These are some of the results from the “People aged 50 and over in the labour market in 2020” publication from the Federal Statistical Office (FSO).
