COVID-19 pandemic: Living conditions deteriorate particularly for young people and persons with a low income

Neuchâtel, 06.10.2021 - The COVID-19 pandemic had little impact on the generally high level of satisfaction with personal relationships and one's own state of health in the first half of 2021. Nevertheless, 11.3% of the population faced income losses due to the pandemic; especially those who were already disadvantaged before the crisis. Young people in particular reported that the COVID-19 pandemic had a negative impact on their mood. These are the latest findings from the Federal Statistical Office (FSO) based on experimental data from the Survey on Income and Living Conditions (SILC) 2021.
