2nd quarter 2021: Number of employed persons rises by 0.5%, unemployment rate based on ILO definition rises to 5.0%

Neuchâtel, 16.09.2021 - In the 2nd quarter 2021, the number of employed persons in Switzerland increased compared with the same quarter of the previous year (+0.5%). The actual weekly hours per employed person increased sharply by 9.9% and almost reached the same level as before the pandemic. During the same period, the unemployment rate as defined by the International Labour Organisation (ILO) increased from 4.6% to 5.0% in Switzerland and from 6.8% to 7.2% in the EU. These are some of the results of the Swiss Labour Force Survey (SLFS).
