How do families in Switzerland live today? - Statistical report 2021

Neuchâtel, 11.05.2021 - Households with children under the age of 25 account for just under a third of private households in Switzerland. The majority of children live together with both parents. 13% live in lone-parent households and 6% in patchwork families. Although social transfers considerably reduce the poverty rate, many lone-parent households find themselves in a difficult situation. They are more often at risk of poverty, dependant on social assistance and are less satisfied with their life in general. These are some of the results from the statistical family report 2021 from the Federal Statistical Office (FSO).
