Federal Council reappoints SNB's Governing Board for next term of office

Bern, 25.11.2020 - During its meeting on 25 November 2020, the Federal Council reappointed the members of the Governing Board of the Swiss National Bank (SNB) and their deputies for the 2021-2027 term of office.

The current term of office of the SNB Governing Board and their deputies (Enlarged Governing Board) ends on 30 June 2021. As regards the 2021-2027 term of office, the Federal Council today reappointed the entire Enlarged Governing Board.

SNB Governing Board:

  • Thomas Jordan, born 1963, Chairman of the Governing Board
  • Fritz Zurbrügg, born 1960, Vice Chairman of the Governing Board
  • Andréa Maechler, born 1969, Member of the Governing Board

Alternate members of the Governing Board:

  • Martin Schlegel, born 1976
  • Dewet Moser, born 1960
  • Thomas Moser, born 1967

In addition, the Federal Council nominated Romeo Lacher, Chairman of the Board of Directors at Julius Bär Group AG and Bank Julius Bär & Co. AG, as Vice President of the Bank Council for the remainder of the current term of office (1 May 2021 to 30 April 2024) with effect from 1 May 2021, the date on which he will join the Bank Council. Romeo Lacher's appointment is subject to his being elected by the SNB's General Meeting of Shareholders on 30 April 2021.

In accordance with the National Bank Act, the SNB Bank Council is composed of eleven members who are elected for a four-year term of office. The Federal Council appoints six members and the SNB's General Meeting of Shareholders elects five. The President and Vice President are appointed or confirmed by the Federal Council.
