Federal Council approves FINMA's objectives

Bern, 18.11.2020 - During its meeting on 18 November 2020, the Federal Council approved the strategic objectives of the Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority (FINMA) for 2021 to 2024.

Under the applicable legislation, FINMA submits its strategic objectives to the Federal Council for approval. This allows the Federal Council to shape the strategic orientation of the supervisory authority's activities over the medium term. On 18 November 2020, the Federal Council approved FINMA's objectives for the fourth strategy period, which runs from 2021 to 2024. During this period, the supervisory authority will concentrate more on digitalisation, innovation and sustainability. In addition, the key topics of stability, risk management and corporate governance will remain a focus of attention. Moreover, the use of new technologies should improve the effectiveness and efficiency of supervision even further.
