Delegate for Federal IT Steering, Peter Fischer, to leave Federal Administration
Berne, 11.11.2020 - The Federal IT Steering Unit FITSU will be disbanded at the end of 2020 as a result of the Federal Administration's ICT reorganisation, meaning that the position of the current Delegate for Federal IT Steering will cease to exist. The employment relationship with the Delegate and Head of the FITSU will be terminated on 31 March 2021 by mutual consent with the Head of the FDF. Peter Fischer will pursue new challenges.
According to the Federal Council's decision of 3 April 2020, digitalisation and ICT governance are being reorganised within the Federal Administration. As part of this, the current Federal IT Steering Unit (FITSU) will be integrated into the new Digital Transformation and ICT Governance (DTI) organisational unit at the Federal Chancellery. Accordingly, the FITSU will be disbanded at the end of December 2020, meaning that the position of the current Delegate for Federal IT Steering and Head of the FITSU will cease to exist. This an ideal time for Peter Fischer to pass on the baton, sharing his experience in other environments and promoting digitalisation. Consequently, his employment relationship will be terminated by mutual consent at the end of March 2021.
Peter Fischer joined the Federal Administration in 1987. Before moving to the FITSU, he designed and accompanied the opening up of the telecommunications market and helped establish the Federal Office of Communications. He has led the FITSU with a great deal of dedication and technical expertise since 2007. In this position, he has decisively shaped federal IT, focusing on shared objectives and using standardisation to increase efficiency. He initiated the digital transformation of the Federal Administration and drove it forward.
The Federal Council would like to thank Peter Fischer for his valuable contribution and dedication to the development of federal IT, eGovernment and cybersecurity in Switzerland. He will work on tasks associated with the upcoming reorganisation and digitalisation until the end of his employment relationship.
