In 2018, six in ten physicians aged under 40 were female

Neuchâtel, 02.10.2020 - At the end of 2018, 23 011 physicians worked in 16 924 medical practices and ambulatory centres in Switzerland. 14% of these were aged 65 and over. Women accounted for 41% of all physicians and 62% of physicians under the age of 40. Foreign-trained physicians worked at one third of medical practices’ sites. These are some of the results of the latest survey of structural data from medical practices and ambulatory centres carried out by the Federal Statistical Office (FSO).
