Hermes 900 HFE drone crashes in Israel

Bern, 06.08.2020 - On Wednesday, 5 August, a Hermes 900 HFE drone intended for the Swiss Armed Forces crashed in the desert over Israeli territory during a test flight. The cause of the accident is as yet unknown and is the subject of ongoing investigations.

The Israeli manufacturer Elbit Systems Ltd. has informed armasuisse that a Hermes 900 HFE drone crashed over Israeli territory. The drone was on a test flight and was damaged beyond repair. Nobody was injured, nor was there any third-party damage. The cause of the crash is currently unknown and is being investigated by the Israeli Ministry of Transport.

The drone was intended to form part of the ADS15 procurement package for the Swiss Armed Forces. The cost of the damage will be covered by Elbit Systems Ltd.
