Poverty rate in 2018 remained stable at around 8%

Neuchâtel, 28.01.2020 - In 2018, 7.9% of the population or some 660 000 people in Switzerland were affected by income poverty. 1 in 8 people had difficulty making ends meet. The overall standard of living in Switzerland, however, continues to be one of the highest in Europe. These are the latest findings from the Survey on Income and Living Conditions (SILC) conducted by the Federal Statistical Office (FSO).
