Growing environmental concern among the population

Neuchâtel, 28.01.2020 - The share of the population who perceived the quality of the environment in Switzerland to be very good or quite good decreased: from 92% in 2015 and 2011 to 84% in 2019. While traffic noise, air pollution and radiation were increasingly found to be disturbing, the trend towards greater consumption of organic products continued. Over 50% of the population considered the loss of biodiversity, the use of pesticides and climate change to be very dangerous for humans and the environment. These are the first results from a survey on the environment, conducted by the Federal Statistical Office (FSO) for the third time.
