5% of children affected by disability, 1% with severe repercussions

Neuchâtel, 02.12.2019 - Around 54 000 children lived with a disability in 2017. One in five of these children had to cope with severe repercussions on their ability to live like children of the same age. 6992 children in particular received an assistance allowance from the Disability Insurance and 1622 lived for all or a part of the year in a specialised institution. To mark the International Day of Persons with Disabilities on 3 December, the FSO has compiled various statistics concerning children with disabilities.
