Over half of people no longer entitled to unemployment benefit find employment again after one year

Neuchâtel, 18.11.2019 - For the past five years, around 38 000 people per year have been excluded from unemployment insurance. 55% of them find work in the first year after exclusion. Excluded persons who are reintegrated into the labour force are often paid lower wages in comparison with other employees and are more likely to have atypical working conditions. The new publication, “Situation of people no longer entitled to unemployment benefits" from the Federal Statistical Office (FSO) is based on the synthesis survey “Social protection and the labour market” (SESAM) and enables the situation of people after exclusion to be compared with that of all employed persons.
