Strong growth in gross domestic product in the cantons of Basel, Zurich and Nidwalden in 2017
Neuchâtel, 12.11.2019 - In 2017, Switzerland’s economic growth continued its momentum of 2016. At cantonal level, Basel-Stadt (+7.0%) benefited from strong growth in the manufacturing industry. Basel-Landschaft (+3.5%) and Zurich (+3.7%) reported a marked rise in nonfinancial services. The canton of Nidwalden saw broad growth of its gross domestic product (+4.1%). These results are taken from initial estimates of the Federal Statistical Office (FSO).
