The number of hospital stays for rehabilitation continued to rise in 2017

Neuchâtel, 03.09.2019 - In 2017, Swiss hospitals and clinics recorded over 89 000 rehabilitation cases. This figure has risen by 31% since 2012; in comparison, cases of acute care rose by only 7%. The increase can be mostly attributed to the age groups 65+, whose percentage share is steadily growing. Rehabilitation costs totalled CHF 1.84 billion in 2017, i.e. 9.8% of all inpatient hospital costs. These are the results of a publication on rehabilitation care from the Federal Statistical Office (FSO).
