Employment barometer in the 2nd quarter 2019 - Continued growth of total employment lasting over nine years

Neuchâtel, 29.08.2019 - In the 2nd quarter 2019, total employment (number of jobs in the secondary and tertiary sector) rose by 1.2% in comparison with the same quarter a year earlier (+0.3% with previous quarter). In full-time equivalents, employment in the same period also rose by 1.2%. The Swiss economy counted 9000 more vacancies than in the corresponding quarter of the previous year (+13.5%). The employment outlook indicator is also indicating an upward trend (+0.3%). These are some of the latest findings from the Federal Statistical Office (FSO).
