Director Giovanni Conti to leave FOITT
Bern, 22.05.2019 - The employment relationship with Dr Giovanni Conti, Director of the Federal Office of Information Technology, Systems and Telecommunication (FOITT), will be terminated at the end of August 2019 by mutual agreement with the Head of the Federal Department of Finance (FDF).
Dr Giovanni Conti was appointed Director of the FOITT by the Federal Council on 20 April 2011. He managed the FOITT with technical expertise and extensive knowledge, especially in telecommunications, IT and data centre infrastructure, and software development. In his eight years as Director, he was instrumental in driving technological developments forward for the benefit of FOITT service recipients and implemented efficiency gains.
The FDF believes that digitalisation will require more action in terms of the Federal Administration's ICT. New missions are needed regarding structure and processes in favour of the provision of services for departments, federal offices and external customers. Due to differing views on the FOITT's further development, Federal Councillor Ueli Maurer and Director Giovanni Conti decided by mutual agreement that the upcoming challenges should be tackled with new management for the office.
The Federal Council would like to express its appreciation and thank the outgoing Director for his work in the service of the Confederation.
The FOITT has 1,100 employees and 80 apprentices, and provides services worth over CHF 450 million. The FOITT remains one of the five largest IT service providers in Switzerland.
Giovanni Conti will continue to lead the FOITT until mid-June 2019. The position of FOITT Director will be re-advertised in accordance with the ordinary procedure.
