VAT on Billag fee: Federal Council proposes credit of 50 francs per household

Bern, 17.04.2019 - 50 francs for each household: this is what the Federal Council proposes in its draft of the new Federal Act on the refund of the value-added tax on the reception fee for radio and television. The credit shall be made on an invoice issued by the fee collection agency, Serafe. In two landmark rulings, the Federal Supreme Court held that the reception fee is not subject to value-added tax and that the federal government must repay the VAT collected between 2010 and 2015. The Federal Council opens the consultation proceeding on 17 April 2019, and interested parties can submit their comments by 5 August 2019.
